Card Services
The Rutherford County Farmers Market utilizes a token based system for the processing of EBT/Credit/Debit cards. Thanks to partnerships with MountainWise and Facebook, we are currently doubling ALL SNAP/EBT purchases at the market. The Rutherford County Farmers Market charges a $1 service fee to cover a portion of the cost of processing Credit/Debit transactions. For more details, read below, or visit the Market Manager’s table each Saturday.

The Rutherford County Farmers Market uses a wooden token system for both cash and SNAP/EBT purchases. These are clearly marked. Cash is represented as a $5 token, for which cash change can be made. SNAP/EBT is represented as a $1 token, for which change is NOT permitted. No one may overcharge a SNAP/EBT customer for their product. Vendors may NOT charge state or local sales tax on SNAP/EBT purchases. Vendors may NOT charge a SNAP/EBT customer for the purchase of bags.
Vendors must treat all SNAP/EBT customers with respect, charge them the same rate as your cash customers, and make every effort to minimize the difference in a SNAP/EBT purchase and a cash purchase.
